This is the Only Thing That Matters for Weight Loss...
Last week we did an interview with Amanda of Exp Realty and also a Beloved Ninja (you can see it by clicking here), she asked us what we would recommend for someone wanting to shed off the quarantine weight.
And I gave her three recommendations (plus one I'm adding today):
Track/document your food (awareness)
Eating 4 servings of fruit/veggies per day (health)
Drink your water; half your weight in oz (hydration/hunger)
5 days of prepared meals at home (remove obstacles)
They aren't magical by no stretch and you definitely have heard it before and probably think there's no way it could be that simple.
But before you nudge it off, I want to share with you a story of how my basketball coach changed the way I think about weight loss and how it can apply to your struggles.
A Lesson About Nutrition I Learned Playing Basketball
I was really frustrated with my basketball game when I was in high school.
I was a sophomore on the varsity team but I felt like I was at a point where I wasn't improving and my confidence and game starting to show it.
I lost my starting position and was barely getting any playing time mid-way through the year.
Coach Howard gave me an invaluable lesson at practice that still sticks with me today.
He pulled me to the side after another disappointing bone head play and told me...
Gosh, that was a slap in the face but damn I needed it.
I was chasing what I saw all the professional guys do and didn't notice what I was really seeing was the sequential beauty of what's possible with mastery.
The fundamentals were so enriched into their game that it was effortless; they weren't doing a lot of thinking on the court like I was. The game slowed down and became easy.
Recalibrate your thinking when it comes to nutrition.
Can you say that you're aware of what and how much you eat consistently? Not just sometimes.
Are you eating 4 servings of fruits and/or veggies every day that will immensely improve your health?
Do you drink half of your weight in ounces (not of wine :0 ) to eliminate mindless snacking and increase your energy?
Are you eating prepared meals 5 days per week at home so you avoid the pitfall of buying junk because you have nothing ready?
If you can't answer yes to these, then you would be WASTING YOUR TIME trying to do what your friends said they're doing or what you've read on the internet.
