Stop Complaining & Do This Instead!
Tammy hopped on the scale again - deja vu; scale went up a few more pounds.
I could tell by the look in her eyes she was infuriated by the yet again, increase in weight.
She took a step back to put her shoes on and mumbled under her breath, “the same bullsh*t!”
I’ve noticed this has become an ongoing pattern.
Tammy comes in, hops on the scale, and her weight goes up. We reevaluate goals and reset habits to only end up back in the same spot every time the new week circled back around.
She tells me she’s ready for change but I realize none of her actions align.
She follows nothing we spoke about and instead does the complete opposite.
Does this mean she’s lazy?
Does this mean she doesn’t care?
This time around, I knew it was time for a crucial conversation.
I knew it was time for Tammy to take a look deep inside and decide what she truly wanted.
Every week Tammy would give me a new excuse:
I had family over
My friends keep pressuring me to drink
I didn’t have time to cook
Healthy food is getting boring
I’m stressed out
And the list goes on
But today, there were no more excuses.
It was time for Tammy to really ask herself if this was something she really wanted.
I knew if we kept up this vicious cycle it would be detrimental to her sanity.
Weight loss is hard…hard as hell.
And if you truly want to achieve it, you’ll have to make time for it and be willing to substitute a few things.
But if you aren’t willing to put in the effort to make a change then you have to stop complaining.
Eat the way you want, drink every night, go partying every weekend, don’t go to the gym to workout—but cut the complaints.
You can’t consistently keep doing the same thing expecting a different result.
Before you keep stressing yourself out, make sure losing weight is actually what you want to accomplish.
Because it’s perfectly fine to not want weight loss.
There’re a million things you could work on that can improve your life. But if this is something you deem important. You have to BE REAL WITH YOURSELF.
In modern society, we have so many things popping up. Whether it’s messages, ads, emails, blogs, and everyone else’s problems, so it’s imperative you take a stand to put your focus on you first and the right things.
When it comes to your body and health, you must choose a destination first and then let your actions take the wheel.
Do you want to lose 20 pounds?
Do you want to move better?
Do you want to feel comfortable in a bathing suit?
Do you want to feel more confident in my skin?
Do you want to be strong?
Do you want to become a better version of yourself?
These are the questions you have to truthfully answer to move the needle. And it doesn’t stop there.
You must go a level deeper and answer why.
Why do you want to lose 20 pounds?
Why do you want to move better?
Why do you want to feel comfortable in a bathing suit?
Why do you want to feel more confident in my skin?
Why do you want to be strong?
Why do you want to become a better version of yourself?
Once you have clarity on what you want, you’re actually 50% more likely to follow through with it.
Commit to your happiness and leave the complaints in the past.
Either you are moving forward or moving backward. There’s no in-between.
From this day forward, you can’t complain about something you’re NOT doing. And you can’t be upset with something you DONT make time for.
Whatever it is that you want, your actions must be congruent with it.
